Welcome to Our Grand Daze, we are part of a growing community of grandparents rising to the challenge of raising grandchildren in a rapidly changing world.
In January 2017, I found myself unexpectedly becoming the primary caregiver for my three grandchildren after my child lost parental rights through our state’s Child Protective Service Department. Through the next year, my grandchildren were placed in my home, and in 2019 my now ex-husband and I adopted two of them. However, in 2022, we divorced and I found myself a single “mother” once again.
Through this experience, I realized the importance of connecting with other grandparents and kinship providers who understand the unique challenges and joys of raising this new generation of children. That is why I started this blog, as a platform for sharing our stories, offering support and guidance, and building a community of understanding.
To protect the privacy of my grandchildren, I have chosen to write under a pseudonym. However, I strive to be fully transparent in sharing our struggles and triumphs, in the hope that it will help others on a similar journey. Join me and Our Grand Daze community in building a strong and supportive network for grandparents raising grandchildren.
