Our Grand Daze

Kinship to Adoption- Parenting Your Grandchildren

Moving Forward

We are now 3 years into our journey. We’ve adopted two of my grandchildren, and at this point they are doing great. Savannah has graduated from Occupational Therapy and is doing well with trauma therapy. George is dealing well with his anger and moving along well. Both are excelling in school and are happy kids.

Of course they both still miss their parents terribly, and I miss my daughter and the way it was. The good and the bad. The family we had that will never be again. We’ve all lost so much.

We are still in the healing process, and likely will be for years to come, but every day we get a little closer to realizing our new normal. We are smiling again, laughing, remembering the good times from our old lives, and planning a future full of happiness and joy. This journey hasn’t been easy up to now, and I’m sure we still have some hard times ahead, but now we have the ability to face the tough times with more confidence.
